The Harbour Circle

Photo: Daniel Rasmussen

The Harbour Circle is the ultimate Copenhagen harbourside walk, a 13 kilometre long walking and cycle path that runs from major sights at Nyhavn to the quiet backwaters of Christianshavn and Sydhavn. The path mixes city life and raw nature in the best way. You will pass by historical attractions and up-and-coming areas being developed at the speed of lightning. You will see unspoilt green areas, houseboats, swim zones, architectural gems and much more.

There's no correct way to do The Harbour Circle, and you can design the route to suit you and your needs. If you want to shorten the route or spice it up a bit, there are plenty of opportunities to cross at one of the many cycle bridges. If you want to combine your experience with a trip on the water, you can easily hop on the harbour bus at several points along the route and at the sam time enjoy one of Copenhagen's (perhaps) cheapest canal cruise.

Harbourside Pit Stops

Along the route, you will find several places where you can either settle your hunger, refuel your inner engine with coffee or finish off with a drink while enjoying the harbour view.

With a harbour clean enough to swim in it, public harbour baths are something that just needed to happen. Dotted throughout The Harbour Circle, you'll find many great places to take a refreshing dip. If you're not into getting your hair wet, there are other ways to experience life in the water. Maybe there's a sailor in you?
